DIY Project: Kids Room Painted Nightstand

Love!

So.. I have been searching for a nightstand for my son's room for quite some time. His room is super tiny and the nightstand could be not more that 19" wide. He also needed a bit of storage, lets not forget style and did I mention that I am on a tight budget?

I found this very cool cabinet that was meant to neatly store spools of thread and sewing accessories. I found it at a vintage shop in Montclair, NJ for $40.00!  I knew right away that I wanted to paint it orange since it is his favorite color.

So simple, so affordable and so much fun!  The entire project cost me $58.00 and my 9 year old son thinks its absolutely cool!

Just a little prep work (cleaning,  removing hardware, sanding and taping). The project was done in less than 3 hours.

Enjoy!

DIY Ladder Wardrobe...

How very cool is this DIY Ladder Wardrobe? Thank you,  A Pair and A Spare,  for sharing. The fact that a woman is doing the tutorial on building this piece, inspired me to share! Love this... Maybe spraying it a bright color, like Canary Yellow would make it really fun!

Michael Aiduss in the September issue of HOUSE BEAUTIFUL...

Not only do I have an awesome boss, but of course, Michael Aiduss is an awesome and incredibly talented interior designer.  One of my favorite projects is featured in the September issue of HOUSE BEAUTIFUL, on stands now.

Love, love, love this house! The converted sun porch off of the master, the family room with the most amazing fireplace and the kitchen! Milk painted cabinetry, limestone floors, large format handmade tile... all the way up to the ceiling and the perfect shades of grey! Honestly, this house is so warm and cozy. Walking into the house felt like I had just arrived at my weekend getaway home and I was well on my way to calm and relaxation...  Living vicariously through our clients is something I often enjoy..lol.

Can you imagine?  These clients live in this beautiful home, all year round, just a few minutes away from our office. So it's not a my weekend getaway, but a girl can dream, can't she?

Every detail has been addressed and beautifully choreographed in this home. I am uber excited and proud of you Michael! Looking forward to many more editorials soon to follow.

Read on and Enjoy....

Thanks for stopping by.

Blue living room walls on my mind...

image 47 park

LOVE this color palette. My Inspiration..

Image House and Home

Believe it or not.. I've lived in my apartment for a year now and I have not had any time to paint it.  I'm finally ready!  I've done every color under the sun over the years and grey has been the most consistent for me, but I keep feelin' blue!  I was thinking navy, but I like a bit of green in the blue too.  My Sofa is brown, my favorite color is yellow/green. If any one knows what the color of this wall is, please let me know!  Open to other fantastic blue suggestions..

Thanks and Enjoy..

The best "Farm Burger" Atlanta..

I don't know if it's crazy to blog about a burger joint in Atlanta, but I loved it so much that I had to share.  I'm in Atlanta to attend a two day Design Camp and I arrived a day early to have some  "me" time. I'm walking around town looking for a place to have dinner and I stopped dead in my tracks when I saw a place called Farm Burger!  Of course I can't help myself because I"m thinking, "what's a farm burger"?. Which is probably the natural reaction for most who have never heard of this place .
As I enter to stand online, of course I'm looking around reading the menu boards and there it is.. the definition of farm burger.

Farm burger wants you to think about your burger - what it is and where it's from.
Our burgers  are  made from 100% grassfed beef that is dry-aged and ground fresh.
Our cows are raised on the sweet grasses of the southeast, and never fed antibiotics, hormones, or grain.
Our menu is seasonal and sourced from local farms.
Our space is convivial and comfortable; because eating is a celebration to be shared.
Our food makes ethical eating easy.

Well... It sure made ME want to try one!  I grab a menu and stand on line. So you order before you're seated, which is cool.  You can build your own burger and you can order sweet teas, root bear, milkshakes, floats.. or local draft beers, even wine. I ordered a beer, which is make local, and it was fantastic!

Aside from the food, of course, I'm scoping out the décor.  It's very relaxed with a vintage, rustic feel. The walls are wood planks, with exposed wood beams, industrial stools and chairs and dark, distressed concrete floors.   I love the service details.. I sat at the bar and there were stations set up with canning jars filled with silverware, and wire baskets with condiments.  The server was making a milkshake and pulled out a vintage milk bottle! Every detail is addressed.
It was about 6:30 and the place was jam packed.  It's not you're average burger joint...it's a very cool atmosphere. I felt comfortable and it's definitely a place you could go with a group of friends, your family or alone if you prefer.  The food, the beer and décor was great and I only spent $21.00 with a tip!
I hope there's a Farm Burger coming to NY soon!

Enjoy..
